The Genesis of Community Homestay Tourism
Founded in 1997 with guidance from local leaders and community visionaries, Sirubari was established to create a sustainable local economy without altering the natural rhythm of village life.
Instead of building large hotels, the village opened its private Gurung homes to visitors. This pioneer model earned Sirubari the prestigious PATA Gold Award for Heritage and Culture, inspiring village tourism models across Nepal and South Asia.
Today, the Tourism Management Committee ensures that every visitor experiences equal warmth, local organic food, and an unforgettable immersion into traditional Gurung culture.
